There are a couple of deals going on over at Steam right now. All Company of Heroes games are 75% off, and at $2.49 you really can’t go wrong with the origninal. If you aren’t familiar with the Relic brand of RTS, you create and control squads instead of individual soldiers and they have their own AI to help make them a little less micro necessary. You can choose to buy just one or get the complete pack, all for one quarter of the normal price.
Also on sale is Altitude at 50% off and it also gets a free weekend. Demo the game and then get it half off it you like it. I have no experience with it but everyone seems to rave. Check it out!
Company of Heroes 75% off
Altitude$9.99 $4.99/£3.49/4,49€
UPDATE: if you enter INDIEPOWER in the coupon field when you pre-order, you get an additional 25% off. Not sure how long this coupon is valid, though.
Turn-based multiplayer tactics game Frozen Synapse is not even released yet and has earned quite a lot of prominent followers already (among them are Penny Arcade’s Tycho and the wonderful people at Rock, Paper, Shotgun). That may be attributed to the awesome pre-order deal which has been available for some time now.
So here’s the deal: you preorder the game, get into the beta (which means you get to play a WIP version that contains the occasional feature update) and you also get a copy of the game to give away to a friend. If you split the costs, each of you gets the game for half price. (Or you can directly battle it out online to determine who pays the full price…)
The current beta client already contains online multiplayer as well as single player skirmish and puzzle modes . A full single player campaign will be available once the game is released (or maybe sooner, who knows).

Three newsworthy deals have just popped up over at Gamersgate, each one should be valid until Sunday night.
The Warhammer 40k Dawn of War Complete Pack contains all 4 Dawn of War 1 games and is 50%-75% off, depending on your status as a loyal GG customer – even though you wouldn’t save that much if you just bought the Platinum Bundle and Soulstorm separately. Still, it’s a pretty good deal if you don’t own any of those games yet.
Next up is Football Manager 2010 for 50% off. Considering the game is still one of the top games at Steam you cannot go wrong if you’re interested in the game of foot-to-ball. Careful though, you might want to check out Direct2Drive’s deal on the game first!
Finally, Frictional’s Penumbra Collection is on sale, either for the PC or for the Mac (both are 70% off). If you like them, you can also still pre-order Frictional’s upcoming game Amnesia: The Dark Descent with a 10% discount.
Telltale sent me an email the other day about the 3rd season of Sam and Max wrapping up, but I didn’t have time to check out the content. Well it looks like they are having a sale to celebrate.
Telltale’s store has a physical copy for $19.95 +s&h, and Steam’s got it for $19.99
It looks to be that if you own the episodes through telltale, you can log in and claim a free disk. Badass!
Impulse has a sale supporting Child’s Play from August 30th to September 10. A portion of Impulse(sale only?) proceeds (no word on how much) will be donated to Child’s Play.

A lot of EA producsts, some Dreamcatcher, lots of Meridian4(as usual). Complete list here!
Most notable, according to myself:
The Sims 3 - $47,63 — $23,81
The Sims 3 Ambitions – $38,10— $19,05 (and other Sims 3 products)
King’s Bounty – Armored Princess – $34,99 — $17,49 (Update: there’s also a pack for both this and first game)
Gratuitous Space Battles Complete- $40,92 — $25,95
I was going to post about Charlie’s Games eventually, since he sells his games via the always popular “pay whatever you want” pricing model. Today he’s announced a special deal which is valid until Sunday: get both of his games – Bullet Candy Perfect is an arena shooter, while Irukandji is a vertical shooter that has only one level, but six different player ships… and it has a final showdown with a Giant Enemy Crab! – for… whatever you want.
The minimum amount you have to pay has been dropped to $1 (instead of $2), so if you’re feeling particularly cheap, you can grab two great games for basically 50% off. But you shouldn’t, because those games are definitely worth more, and if you’re extra generous and pay more than $12, you’ll be added to the super awesome preorder list for Charlie’s upcoming game Scoregasm. I have been following Scoregasm’s development in the last months and trust me on this: if you like to shoot things, you’ll want to have this game.
Just follow these links for details:
Bullet Candy & Irukandji – $2 – $1+?
Bullet Candy & Irukandji & Scoregasm (preorder) – $12+?
Even though Gamersgate’s Summer Sale is officially over, there are some discounts on Flight Sims this week (sims being one of the genres that weren’t included in the sale). I have to admit it’s been a long time since I grabbed that old joystick and took to the skies, so I don’t know if those games are good, but see for yourselves:
Air Aces Pacific – 60% off
Battlestations Pacific – 50% off
Ikaro – 75% off
Pacific Liberation Force – 50% off
Wings of Prey – 50% off
WWI Aces of the Sky – 60% off
Storm over the Pacific – 20% off (not a sim, I know, but it has the Pacific in it…)
I feel like it’s been a while since Impulse had a sale. It could be the insani-sales at GG, or the summer heat, or any other reason, but they sort of stepped out of the game for a short while… Until now.
And I’m glad they’re back! This weekend’s sale is pretty decent: Check it out here
I’m digging the Apogee sale in particular: 40% off all titles!
The contest the other day went pretty well- Well enough I might do another one. There was a pretty decent turnout, but more is always better!
There were a few of you that submitted multiple entries- I didn’t specify that you couldn’t do that, but it’s okay, since when I got to one of your emails (if you had multiple) I only counted the first one I got to.
So! Winners! You’ll get an email with details in the next hour or so, but I want to post your captions/shops, etc here. Jeff, Vebba, and Nate – Congrats. You guys get free stuff!
These three in particular immediately made me chuckle. Jeff even titled his entry email “DDD Contest or something”
Indie RPG and horse-fighting simulator Mount & Blade, and it’s expansion Mount & Blade: Warband, are on sale this weekend on steam. Warband has just received an update as well which adds achievements and new maps.
Mount and Blade – $29.99 — $7.50 / £6.25 / €7.50
Mount and Blade: Warband - $29.99 — $10.20 / £8.50 / €10.20
